This session will be taught by local guest artist Steve Hand. He owns a gallery in town and is very excited to teach students abstract art and how to manipulate paint with a squeegee on canvas.

Description:
All music has some sort of improvisational aspects to it. Knowing how these work can help lead to more spontaneous music making moments. We will talk about improvisational techniques, some fundamentals, and make some music. Sessions start with listening, and then independent practice, and then a big group jam.

Ideally, any interested students would be able to follow along with our chosen films while reading English subtitles.
Description:
Students have the opportunity to watch acclaimed international films representing various cultures from around the world. Chosen films would provide students with a window into other cultures and we would discuss the implications of what we view. Some possible discussions would involve comparing and contrasting many aspects of the target cultures with those of the U.S., including but not limited to the following: rituals, cuisine, family dynamics/roles, human rights, politics, dress, music, and art.

Description:
The Greek philosophers were the first people to use reason and experience to explore human nature. Skeptical of the myths and religions of their day, philosophers ask fundamental questions about human beings and their place in the world. More than 2,500 years later, the ideas of the Greeks still engage and challenge us: What is reality, and is it permanent or always changing? Are our values absolute or relative? What is happiness? How should we live our lives? If these questions interest you, come join this interactive and lively discussion series.

We will review game footage from the Volleyball Matches. We will discuss advantages and disadvantages rotations and plays on the court. We will review a variety of documents and videos to consider how best to plan winning strategies for various opponents.

The beauty of yoga is that you don’t have to be a yogi to reap the benefits. Whether you are young or old, flexible or not, yoga has the power to calm the mind and strengthen the body. Don’t be intimidated by yoga terminology, fancy yoga studios and complicated poses. Yoga is for everyone. Each session will incorporate breathing, mindfulness, and yoga poses that gently increase flexibility and strength.

Do you want to get outside? Interested in trying trail running? October is the perfect time to enjoy the fall colors while getting some exercise on our campus trail. Running has loads of benefits like relieving stress, boosting your mood, and improving your overall health. This will be a low pressure setting, and no prior running experience is needed.

We will start by learning some frisbee throwing techniques and the rules of the game. We will be outside on one of the fields playing the fun game of ultimate frisbee every time we meet. This is a non contact sport and all are welcome regardless of level.

Gaming club is an opportunity for students to socialize and have fun together based on their hobby of playing video games. Students will have an opportunity to play multi and single player games, and spend time discussing gaming strategies and preferences.

We will evaluate the origins, controversies and precedents of recent and current US Supreme Court Cases. Students will evaluate both sides of the cases, the rights and laws associated with substantiating each side and the immediate impact of the precedent, as well as any potential future effects.
